Edinburgh gearing up for the Fringe starting up on Wednesday. Many venues still looking like construction sites but all will be ready in a couple of days.
Good also to see local Fringe veteran Ian Kendal already entertaining tourists and locals as only he can with his sleight of hand.

At last I managed to get to see our friend Lucy Porter perform last years Fringe show "Fool's Gold".  Since I last saw Lucy she got married to fellow performer Justin Edwards last year and they now have their own little production on the way. Lucy still has a few dates to go of this UK tour so go and see her if you can.

Happy Easter to one and all. The most recent show I went to see was Jus' Like That! An Eveing With Tommy Coper despite not being a Tommy Cooper fan I loved Clive Mantle's performance and what a lovely man he is. Such a gentleman what a pleasure to meet him after the show.

01-03-2010
OMG is it possible it is the first of March already. Geoff and I had a bit of a hectic weekend with Only An Excuse? on Friday, Craig Hill - 40 Love on Saturday and Beyond the Barricade on Sunday. Three superb shows in 3 days.

Beyond The Barricade

27-02-2010
Our first visit of 2010 to the Alhambra Theatre was to see Jonathan Watson in 'Only An Excuse?' appologies to comedian writer Phil Differ for not recognizing him in the green-room. Despite my dislike of football I had a good night but I suspect Geoff enjoyed it even more. We go to Kirkcaldy tonight to see Craig Hill and off to Edinburgh Playhouse on Sunday to see Beyond The Barricade.  The new programme for The Alhambra Theatre Dunfermline has been announced with some fantastic shows coming soon.

I still can not fully take in the fact that Jason Wood has been taken from us but Geoff and I spent the evening in a way Jason would have wanted us to laughing at some really good comedy, at the Stand Comedy Club in Edinburgh with Russell Kane and Sadie Hasler. We had a fabulous night and look forward to seeing them again soon.

Russell Kane - Human Dressage

21-02-10
Sheila and I are devastated to hear of the loss of one of the 'nice guys' in the comedy world with the passing of Jason Wood. He was such a talented performer and is going to be sorely missed by everyone who had the privilege to know him. Our thoughts go out to his family and friends.

Second last day of 2009 and I had been confined to the house by both snow and a chest infection. I had not been out for over a week what better way to get out and almost finish my reviewing for this decade than to see the latest Scottish phenomenon that is the Red Hot Chilli Pipers. Two sell out shows and a matinee in the Alhambra Theatre Dunfermline going to show just how popular they are. Geoff saw them on the 18th I saw the matinee on the 29th. Geoff went back to the evening show which we have called Red Hot Chilli Pipers   Red Hot Hoolie The Sequel this was the chance to review the two support acts.  One more show to go again at the Alhambra Theatre Dunfermline review to follow shortly.

Guess what?  Geoff, Ben, Di, Gill and myself have all been accredited for The Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2009, so planning slips in to overdrive. The site is up on both one4review.com and one4review.co.uk thanks to Jason of RoseWired Web Hosting. We recommend Jason to everyone he has saved my sanity (if such a thing exists).
We will begin entering the shows we hope to see as soon as possible, so the site should be updated every few days. Looking forward to seeing you all soon.  Sheila

He may not be performing his own show at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this year but look out for Russell Howard as he tells me he will be up for a few days. I managed to get to see him on one of the extra dates of his recent tour.

Stuart McNiff has been at it again this time he has been to see Jimmy Buffett totally new to me but we are sure many of you will have herd of him. Ben sent us his review of the Edinburgh Film Festival. I went to see Singin' In The Rain last night and had a really superb time.

Can you believe it Beyond The Barricade is celebrating 10 years of continuous touring with a Beyond The Barricade  The 10th Anniversary Tour. We missed seeing them last October so it was great to see the show again.

Well would you believe it? Just back home from Dunfermline seeing Jimmy Carr and Stuart McNiff has beaten us to the draw. The review was sitting in the inn box ready to publish. Thanks Stuart.

Yesterday was officially the Summer Solstice and for Geoff and I It was certainly a long day. Very enjoyable but long. Morning and afternoon spent trying to plan what we would like to see during the Fringe, a quick visit to the family, off to East End Park for the celebration at the end of  'A Dander for Mary' in aid of the Mary Leishman Foundation and finally off in to Edinburgh to The Stand Comedy Club.  East End Park saw the debut performance of Lynsay B. and her new band followed by a set from husband Mark and the band. The show at the Stand included 5 acts and a compere at the massive cost of £1 for members.  We had a fantastic day.

It may be the longest day but with all the work Geoff, Ben, Diane and I are having to do before the Edinburgh Fringe Festival we need about 6 weeks of longest days. Last night Geoff and I took friends Lynsay and Mark to see Craig Hill, Mark being a semi retired performer somehow managed to get himself up on stage with Craig. Still a great night was had by all. For the full review see Craig Hill  20-06-2009. As we start getting the Fringe Programme settled pages will start to appear with details of all the shows we hope to see. Meanwhile enjoy Craig!
