This is the UK Premier of Nicky
Silver’s new play that is a mixture of comedy and tragedy and is
wonderfully staged and performed by this young company.
Harry,
Richard Weinman, and Nan, Emily Murphy, are trapped in a loveless
marriage. Their son Isaac, Alex Eisenberg, is a school teacher and
frustrated painter. Harry is having yet another affair with his
somewhat ordinary secretary Delia, Charlotte Brookes, who is
pregnant by Harry and keen for a permanent relationship, as still
lives at home with an abusive father.
When
Isaac visits his parents’ house, an awful secret is revealed and
he begs with his parents to let him remain there. But will they?
How do they square the naturally protective feelings for their son
with their feelings for his admission and their responsibilities
to society in general? And is it the first time something like
this has occurred?
Julia
Stidolph plays Dr Hilton and Victor’s mother, the woman in the
pale blue coat and relates her part in Isaac’s history? Does
this assist or hinder their final decision?
To
find out the answers to this ultimate poser, and experience the
trauma that is going on you better get your ticket fast as the
show closes on August 29.
