This
Joe Orton play is given an airing by About Turn Theatre
Company as part of the
Finge this year and I must admit I was looking forward to seeing it,
as I remember this as a very funny play.
However,
one can be disappointed and I have to say I was with this
performance. The acting space was far to small for a production that
relies farce like at numerous comings and goings and I have not seen
so many dropped or fluffed lines since my last visit to a school
play.
The
performers had some redeeming features, Daisy Fellows as the naive
would be secretary was excellent throughout, the philandering Dr
Prentice, Jonathan Bullock, was convincing most of the time, and
occasionally the others had their moments.
Hopefully
the company were having a bad day, certainly Orton's play, although
a trifle dated is still good, but I'm afraid I left the show feeling
slightly short changed.
