Royal Holloway Theatre have been coming to
Edinburgh for years doing their reputation no harm along the way by
always producing interesting and imaginative productions.
Their offering this year is a film noir
style play Roe Gets Shot.
Set in and around The Birds Nest Brothel,
which is owned by Rose, together with some high ranking City
officials, the girls Roxane, Molly, Maria, and Chi-Chi, together
with bouncer Alfie are worried. Where is Rose? Suspicions grow when
Detective Buchanan arrives with an anonymous note.
Chief of Police, The Mayor and the Birds
Nest staff as well as the Detective get involved as the mystery
unfolds.
This play was written and produced by Chloe
Campbell and directed by Amber Homes.
The set, on wheels, was very versatile and
adaptable, but at times, given the seats on three sides of the stage
a fair amount of action could well have been missed by those to the
side.
