This play written by the Tiernan clan, past
Perrier Winner Tommy, stand up comedian Eleanor and her cousin,
actress Niamh is the story of comedian Eleanor, who is not nearly as
funny as she thinks she is as she fails in her warm up gig for the
famous Mulingar Comedy Festival.
She has twenty four hours to turn this
around and enlists the assistance of Niamh to help her overcome her
loss of confidence, as she rants and raves about audiences, material
and alludes to being like Beckett at times.
Will they turn it around in time? Only time
will tell.
This play I’m afraid was a bit of a
disappointment given the obvious talent in the creative team. I felt
Eleanor only really came into her own with her revised set for the
audition, and perhaps she would have been best served sticking to
what she is obviously very good at, stand up. Niamh had far less
scope to work with than her cousin and Tommy, as director had
obviously done his bit.
