I have to admit I found this theatrical
experience performed by Foul Play Theatre very strange from the
opening. Before even seated, the audience were segregated into two
sides of the theatre either side of a acting area partly obscured by
chess board style screens, some cast members sitting in the seats
and others seductively clad in burlesque costumes, playing up to the
audience.
The nature of the setting means that not
all action is seen by all the audience at any one time and although
the choreography, direction and staging is imaginative, I felt that
the storyline suffered in the process.
All eleven actors gave their all, but I
really was not sure where the story finished, or why some of the
devices fitted into this production.
