This
is Fringe time when the day does not start before midday. This is
Shakespeare. I don't do Shakespeare! So why an I at this show at 10.00
am on a Saturday morning?
The
answer is simple dear reader, C Theatre's troupe of young thespians
always produce as quality show and this years bunch certainly maintain
the high standard previously set.
Loosely
based, and I do mean loose, on The Taming of the Shrew and performed by
a cast of five who play the many characters with ease. It occasionally
has a panto feel about it, booing baddies, shouting out warnings as to
poisoned croissants, you get the picture, as the high paced, genuinely
funny nonsense draw to it's inevitable conclusion.
The
five I saw were Cairid Lloyd, Emily Jane Hagger, Hayley Emma Otway, Beth
Packer and Anna Westford performed, but at other performances you may
see Gemma Whelan and Sara Pascoe instead. The talented bunch devised and
wrote the piece together with Damien Sandys who also has the task of
directing the on stage mayhem.
So
if this sounds As You Like it, (Julius) Caesar the moment before the
tickets become Too Darned Hot.
Oh
and you get coffee and croissants included in the price of ticket also.
