In their fifth annual Fringe tribute to famous
authors, the Mercators present ‘The Curious Case of Conan Doyle’.
Having seen several of the previous productions I knew roughly what I
was in for, a factual history of the author interspersed with dramatised
excerpts from a number of his works.
The performance is read out of four scripts
enabling several people to participate in the performances. On the day I saw the show the readings
were done by Angela Binnie, Alan Richardson, Susan Wales and Jim Witcomb.
I admire the amount of research behind these productions and am
fascinated by those parts of the histories I was not aware of.
Always a fascinating performance especially if
you have an interest in the author or his work, well performed by
enthusiasts.
