Sound & Fury's Sherlock Holmes and the saline solution

An American trio present this upbeat production of a Sherlock Holmes farce. From the outset they have the audience in stitches. The close proximity of the front two rows to the stage make you feel part of the play. The humour and hidden meaning lend to the plot. The acting is superb and although they make a couple of mistakes, it takes nothing away from a very entertaining performance. I would highly recommend this show, great fun for the family. For me, a 5 star show and one I will go and see again it was such fun.

Stalag Happy
What a delightful yet very moving story. Stalag Happy follows the lives of artists Sir Terry Frost and Adrian Heath during their time spent in a WWII POW camp. The part of Sir Terry Frost is played by his grandson. Given a flier for the show whilst walking up the high street, my husband and I felt compelled to see the show. How glad we both were that we went along. Both actors gave moving performances. Despite only a small audience there seemed to be an emotional atmosphere about the theatre. The hour and 10 minutes flew by. I was so moved by the story, at the end I found myself in tears. The final scene played out, the two actors left the stage to loud applause. I spoke to them afterwards to relate my emotions and how much I had enjoyed their performance. I deem this show a must for anyone who has connections to the War, or who wants to see a great piece of theatre. A 5 star rating from me, and a show I would see again.

Chris Cox - Mind over patter

Described as a mind-reader, it's hard to imagine if the show will live up to expectations. He starts the show with questions to the audience and appears a little nervous. This soon changes and he takes various willing/unwilling people form the audience to help him with his illusions! I will call them illusions for it is hard to comprehend how he does what he does. I don't want to give too much away for fear of spoiling what is a remarkable show. Unlike comedy, you have to be sure that what you are doing will turn out right, you can't improvise if things go wrong. The hour passed too quickly for me I could have watched him a while longer. A show to go and see if you like the unexplainable, but don't tell anyone what happens, make them go and see for themselves. 4 stars.

G3- the Ginge, the Geordie and the Geek
One of those shows you are thinking will it be a hit or a miss! Well for me, a hit. The house was full and we waited in the near dark for the three G's to appear. From the outset the audience was rocked with laughter. They start out three ordinary guys sitting at home, then they are given special comedic powers. Thus follows sketch upon sketch of topical humour. Some a little risqué but before they get out of hand a quirky ending abates your fears that they have gone too far. This show is a real must for anyone who likes something a little different. Even my husband, who had real doubts while waiting to go in thoroughly enjoyed himself. I don't recall a time when I wasn't laughing. A 4 star show, if you get the chance, give it a go.

Idiots of Ants - this is war
A fantastic 5 star show. Starts off  with three guys on a plane during WWII. Then they realise it's fake. From here on in it is non-stop laughter in a fast-paced sketch show format. Entertaining from the off, you can't help laughing. The sketch about computer gaming is a real treat. A must show of this years Fringe. The night I went, the show was sold out, get a ticket if you can.
