The past two years have been a series of firsts for the Alhambra Theatre Dunfermline and yet again we score with the first pantomime. Cowdenbeath Community Theatre’s production of ‘Puss In Boots’ is actually the first to be performed on the Alhambra stage since it was built in 1926.

Puss delights Fife audiences from Wednesday 9^th December until Saturday 12^th at 7-15pm with a matinee at 2-30 on Saturday.

Rosie Rags (Kerry Crawford) may be a scarecrow but she is enchanted and is also our narrator and guide. The Crowman (Kevin Keir) uses his magic to ensnare the land and capture all the grain leaving the population starving and at his mercy.  Our hero John Miller (Lindsay Combe) and his cat Tabby (Lynne Donaldson) are thrown out of the mill to find their fame and fortune.  Taken in by King Arthur’s cook Delia Smythe (Alan Boniface) and her son Sammy (Alex Keating) John meets Princess Jasmine (Amii Stewart) and falls head over heals in love. King Arthur (John Grieve) and his equerry Edwin (Charlie Hume) put up a prize for a flying machine, entries being from Sammy Smyth and Dotty (Rachel Livingstone, Crusty Miller (Cathy Wood) and brother Dusty Miller (Anne Keir) finally John and the now magically transformed ‘Puss in Boots’ (Lynne Donaldson).

This Panto has all of the touches of any of the traditional ones I have seen. They utilise musical numbers ranging from present day pop songs to golden oldies, utilizing the perfect number ‘These Boots are Made For Walking’ sung by Puss. The group of dancers and very large chorus are utilised in several village scenes. Harry Wood the producer, Paul Wickham the musical director and Anne Keir the choreographer are the team behind this production.
