As a company one4review first became aware of
Michael McIntyre in 2004, since then Geoff has been to each of his Fringe
shows. With Michael averaging 5 star reviews.
Over
the past year or so he has been on TV regularly on chat shows, topical
news shows and celebrity quiz’s, including an appearance on ‘The Royal
Variety Performance’. As is often with these rising household names we
worry they may not return to their comedy roots, not so Michael McIntyre!
Despite being in the middle of a UK arena tour and filming for his
new up and coming TV show, Michael delighted a packed ‘Stand Comedy
Club’ Edinburgh.
The buzz started over an hour before
the doors opened when an expectant audience started to gather outside the
club. Even when the place was packed 40 or so others waited for the chance
of returns.
Michael
was greeted on stage by cheers and rousing applause. From his first
appearance on stage and his comments as to how tiny the stage is and how
close the audience are, to his final comments almost an hour later, he had
us rolling in the isles having a wonderful time. Part of his set was
typically Scottish including his definition on how highland dress was
designed. He seemed to be having as much fun as we were.
This cute comedian is just such a
pleasure to watch whether on TV, DVD or live but the recorded performances
loose some of the charismatic electricity of his the live show. I hope his
new show is a hit and that he becomes even more of a household name than
he is at present. I also hope he keeps returning to the Edinburgh Fringe.
Get to see him live if you can he is breath-takingly brilliant!
