In
a world that is full of tribute bands everyway you turn it is amazing
that this band has been performing for 16 years, way, way longer than
many bands in their own right.
Along with millions I suppose I have been a
huge Pink Floyd fan since the early 70’s and I actually wore out my
original copy of Dark Side of the Moon by constantly playing it. I have
not however seen them perform live as I have never been able to get my
hands on a ticket for love or money, so here was a chance to catch
‘the next best thing’ a tribute band who have the backing of at
least one, Dave Gilmour, of the band themselves.
 Prior
to the gig at the recently re-opened Dunfermline’s Alhambra Theatre
around 1800 fans packed in for a marathon night of music, lightshows and
VT as these ‘antipodeans sound a likes’ treated one and all to
nearly three hours of superbly performed music.
This was the first gig of there current British
tour and for this one, APF perform the classic album The Wall in its
entirety, a first for them and this opus piece certainly has plenty of
scope for them to showcase their amazing talents. With a note for note
recreation of this album they had all hardened fans in ecstasy, and
although it is not my favourite Floyd album I was blown away with the
experience.
A lot of bands do an encore it’s a well known
fact, but APF don’t do things by halves! Oh no! Their encore lasted
for more than 45 minutes, longer than some bands actually play for and
consisted a selection of tracks mostly taken form ‘Dark Side of the
Moon’ and ‘Wish You Where Here’ . For me this absolutely made my
night and was worth the admission money alone.
 I
was amazed at the age range of the fans that attended, people ranging
from teenagers to possibly pensioners but why should I be. Quality has
no age boundaries and this is a quality band in every sense of the word.
Totally professional is the expression I would use, a highly
technical show, lighting show to die for, sound as clear at the front as
at the very back of the circle, even a wide range of merchandising. A
thoroughly great night out which was a credit to the band and
Dunfermline’s Alhambra Theatre for staging it.
