Occasionally we receive an e-mail asking
for a review we find almost irresistible. We received an e-mail from
Adriana a Scottish singer-songwriter who has just supported Sheryl
Crow at a sell-out gig at the Carling Academy in Glasgow. Her music
has taken her to Seattle, New York, Italy, London and across
Scotland. Born in Livingston of Italian/Scots parentage, after a
classical training she emerged onto the live music scene in 2005
with her acoustic guitar.
This was the first time I had heard of
Adriana and out of curiosity I went along to see her. She is joined
on stage by her new band Mark on bass guitar, Ian on drums and John
on electric and acoustic guitar. I was blown away by her set, so
much so I bought the 3 CD’s she had available and listened to one
on the way home enjoying it very much. One of the numbers she played
during the gig was called ‘One Foot in the Water’ which totally
captured my imagination, in some ways it reminds me of the effect
the song ‘Black Horse and the Cherry Tree’ by KT Tunstall had on
me. Unfortunately it is not on a current CD but as she is working on
one with the new band due for release in January.
For me this was an absolutely superb gig
and I hope I was in at the start of a huge career in the music
industry, we will certainly be keeping an eye out for this young
lady in the future. Look out KT Tunstall, Katie Melua, Amy McDonald
and others, Adriana is on her way.
