Gerry Howell's Incubation Hour

***
Gerry Howell could be likened to a rambler in both senses of the word. Humorous ideas pour out in profusion as he constantly paces across the stage. In fact, word play does feature prominently in his act and this ploy allows him to flit from subject to subject. One such example is when his girlfriend said sensual, he mistook it for existential and this led onto a completely different direction, Proust replacing something perhaps more intimate.
He might have started with the incubation of eggs but all manner of topics are touched on in his feverish delivery. He has a surreal take on history whether it be the building of the Pyramids, the Norman Conquest or Charles Darwin. To break up the flow of almost random thoughts, he plays a few imagined scenes from plays he has written.
His perpetual movement does have a hypnotic effect drawing you into his form of comedy.
