Olivia Neville is a young performer who
plays a selection of characters in a sketch show format. There is a
charming and perky innocence in the way she acts her roles.
Her funniest sketches occur at the start
and finish as she depicts a hassled mother of two young children,
married to a preoccupied husband and coping with a wayward granny.
She opens with a chaotic breakfast scene and closes with putting the
youngest child to bed. There is a pacing to her show from playing a
sloth to the frenetic depiction of a shop assistant working in a
camera shop trying to cope with problem after problem.
Some sketches do work better than others.
Sustaining this form of humour throughout is a big challenge for the
solo performer. She does have the essential requirement of comic
timing, allied to good movement and the most expressive eyes.
However, whether the solo act is the best way forward to develop her
talents is questionable.
