Miles Jupp was once told that life gets
harder when you become a teenager.
This gives his show a jumping off point for informing us how
he has drifted through life, never really fully participating in
decisions that have been made concerning him.
He also bemoans being a grumpy old man at the age of 28,
getting irritated at other people having fun.
Jupp tells his stories quite well but the
problem for me was that they simply weren’t funny enough.
Instead of belly roars there were merely smatters of laughter
punctuating the hour. Perhaps
this is enough for some people but I found myself wanting more.
There wasn’t anything about his act that made him
particularly stand out or would see me recommend him to other
people.
Instead I found myself drifting through the
60 minutes, wondering when
I was going to get that big laugh.
I never did.
