Nicole Korkolis and Becky Donohue are a
couple of ballsy broads form New York and have teamed up to strut
their stuff late night in the Fringe this year. Having seen Ms
Korkolis at last years Fringe and thoroughly enjoyed her show I was
anticipating another good performance.
Becky Donohue however was new to new and
she opened the show on the night I attended. She says she is a
storytelling comedian and as such launched into her routine with a
couple of local stories before getting into the more personal stuff
about her and her family. She tells an almost unbelievable story
relating to her grandmother, but even if it didn’t occur that way
she told it well.
Nicole took to the stage after about thirty
minutes and started of brightly, making a series of comic
observations about the Royal Mile this time of the year, the cost of
being in Edinburgh, a
Highland tour they took and the lack of a man in her life at the
present, but she tailed off towards the end as it looked like she
struggling for material..
I understand this has not been a great run
numbers wise for the girls and I’m afraid they came over a little
disillusioned with the whole affair. Pitty, I’m sure they could do
far better.
