I
have followed Shelley Cooper's Fringe career for some time now and
never quite know what I am going to get. Last year Geoff went to see
Shelley just to prove we are not overtly biased. Shelley is back at
the Espionage as part of the Free Fringe with her new show
'Britishness'.
In
a packed room Shelley starts off with a little of her own ethnic
origins, she then goes on a whistle stop history lesson just showing
how pure "British" blood is. From Celts, Romans Saxons,
Normans etc etc etc. Some of her comments may strike fear and doubt
in rightwing factions. Far from being a history of ethnicity this is
a very, very funny show.
I
am delighted to say this was one of the best Shelley gigs I have had
the pleasure of being at this lady really rocked. She did have one
or two chatterers and a slightly drunk lady determined to join in
but dealt with them superbly.
