There
aren't too many Welsh comedian that are currently on the comedy
circuit, but what that principality lack in numbers they certainly
possess one of the best, and that man is Rhod Gilbert.
I
first came across him two years ago and noted his name as a
potential star and the Perrier judges nominated him for best
newcomer that year so I was not alone in my opinion. Last year in a
larger venue his show was almost a continual sell-out and it's
heading that way again this year at the larger again Pleasance
Cavern, and Gilbert has them in the palm of his hand throughout.
He
claims to have been critised for being almost too inventive in his
comedy, so this years show is nearly all true ...... or is it?
Gilbert
bases his show around his life since and with comparisons to that of
Gilbert Grape a role played by Johnny Depp in one of his more
forgettable films and as always this extremely personable character
carries his sold out house in the palm of his hand.
So
if the if.com people are looking for my tip for their award
look no further. And as for the rest grab a ticket before they all
get gobbled up because Gilbert's great.
