Sister Mary McArthur : Celebrity Nun |
||||||||||||||
Tim
McArthur appears as the singing nun. Sister Mary McArthur. He is a good
singer and performs a miscellaneous collection of songs including the
Beatles ‘Let it be’ and Abba’s ‘Mamma Mia’, ably accompanied
by Brother Matthew (James Adler). However, it is hard not to disbelieve
he is still a man dressed up in a nun’s habit.
It is a
measure of a kind of residual respect for those in religious gear that
he does get the audience all to stand up at times even to do a group
sing a long, with actions, of ‘Doh, Ray, Me’.
The
comedy links he does with Brother Michael don’t really work for me –
the jokes tend to fall flat.
Entertaining
but not attention grabbing and should really be in the music section.
