Nelly Thomas  -  Family Ties

Nelly Thomas is a new name to me in the comedy world. This Western Australian lady does the usual introductionary chat with her audience, even finding some of her fellow countrymen who lived not far from her birth place. Although she is Melbourne based these days, a fair chunk of her material is based on and around her home town, her family and how things may have been different had she been born with money, religion or a male.

To illustrate her points she does three comedy sketches to illustrate how she may have turned out if....

Ms Thomas is not a in your face Aussie, certainly not a brash 'sheila', and has some quite nice material when she is doing her stand up, but for me the character work, although was different, was not the part I enjoyed the most.
